SQUAWKESTRA!

Squawkestra is a community orchestra based in Northcote.

What began with a group of 5 string players in November 2006 has continued to grow as we collect members along the way from varied backgrounds, experience and interests, with a current membership of around 50 players.

We range in age from our 20's to our 70's and have nearly equal members of men and women (slightly more female!) from diverse musical backgrounds. Some have had just a few lessons, others are returning to play after a long break, while some have taken up their instrument seriously (sitting exams and all kinds of stuff!).

We attempt to play standard orchestral reperoire that is arranged for beginner players (approx Prelim to 3rd Grade AMEB).

Our conductor is Katrina Wilson.

We have a committee that organises Squawkestra.
