We welcome all orchestral instruments!
There are currently NO waiting lists for any instrument.
We would really like more: brass players (french horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba) and we really need double bass!
one more of: oboe, bassoon & piccolo.

We do not offer casual membership so you will need to join during or after the first 3 rehearsals if you wish to continue coming and to receive your music.
The memberhip fee will be dated from your second attended rehearsal.

Musicians:
Full: $80
Concession: $60
Due 1st July each year, charged Pro rata for new members.
This fee covers: all music, fortnightly rehearsals (inc tea/coffee) and performances.

Join Us!
Squawkestra is an adult community orchestra for beginner and returning (rusty!) musicians.
The best way to expereince Squawkestra is to come along to a rehearsal. Anyone is welcome to join in three Squawkestra rehearsals for free!

We have these requirements so far:
- you must play an orchestral instument
(please see list of accepted instruments) - have a sense of humor and patience
- a music stand
- your own instrument
- the ability to read music (at least a bit!)
- the willingness to listen and play with others
- be able to come to rehearsals regularly
- be an adult (no kids, sorry!)
There is no formal audition process, but please email info@squawkestra.com before you come to a rehearsal.
Interested players are also welcome to come and watch a rehearsal.
Please note that we have occainsonally have waiting lists for some instruments, but it is still worth registering your interest as you might not have to wait long!

WHERE: Rehearsals are held at the Northcote Uniting Church, 251 High Street, Northcote. See Events page for full info/changes.
WHEN: Thursdays 7:00 - 9:00 pm
COST: membership fees (read the right side panel)
BRING: ALL your music, a music stand, a pencil & eraser.
Accepted instruments:
Strings: violin, viola, cello, double bass
Woodwind; flute, piccolo, oboe, bassoon, clarinet (in Bb), bass clarinet
Percussion: auxillary percussion (triangle, bells, snare), timpani, glockenspiel, xylophone
Brass: trumpet, trombone, french horn, tuba
Other: harp
We are sorry we cannot use non orchestral instruments at the moment .... maybe in the future?
Volunteer
If you don't play an instrument but would still like to be involved with an orchestra - become a Squawkateer! There are plenty of ways to volunteer with Squawkestra.
You can -
- volunteer on the committee
- help out at performances, we need:
- box office
- ushers
- props
- backstage - help with promotion
